How to Test a Chevy TPS 1Shift the vehicle's transmission into park or first gear (typical transmission). Turn the ignition for the "OFF" position and set the parking brake. Turn the ignition back for the "ON" position ">auto diagnostic.

2Connect an automotive scan tool's information cable towards the Chevrolet's diagnostic personal computer port situated underneath the dashboard on the driver's side. Turn on the scan tool and wait for it to boot.

3Select "Live Data Feed" from the sensor's main menu. Pick out "TPS" from the data feed menu ">Vehicle Diagnostic equipment.4Depress the gasoline pedal slowly until it reaches the floor and watch the screen on the scan tool. The reading must steadily enhance from a beginning position of "0%" to "100%" when the gas pedal reaches the floor. If the display reads "0%" the complete time and will not respond for the throttle, then the TPS is faulty.
